The city of Gahanna, Ohio is a suburb of Columbus located in Franklin County. The city’s motto is “Live, Work, Play” and it spans 12.6 square miles. Gahanna is a thriving suburb of friendly residents and unique businesses located near Columbus providing residents with countless opportunities for employment, education and entertainment. The community was founded in 1849 by John Clark on land belonging to his father Joseph Clark. The land was called Gahanna Plantation and was located along the banks of Big Walnut Creek. The community was officially incorporated in 1881 and swore in its first mayor in October of the same year. The community continued to grow in the years since and according to the United States Census of 2010, Gahanna was home to 33,248 residents spread across 13,037 households giving the city a population density of 1,092.3 people per square mile. The median household income in the community is approximately $72,813 and the median family income is approximately $85,348.

A sizable portion of Gahanna’s population work outside the community and tourism is also a big part of the local economy. Museums, gift shops and historic locations like Lily Stone Bed&Breakfast, the Log House and the John Clark House offer visitors a glimpse into the past. Currently, the city is working to revitalize Olde Gahanna, a historic area in downtown Gahanna.
