Heath was incorporated in 1952 and chartered as a city in 1965, but in the thirteen years between the city grew. The biggest population growth was between 1960 and 1965 where the population increased from 2,426 to 6,066 residents. Indian Mound Mall, the county's first indoor shopping mall opened 1986. The Heath City School system is made up of four schools, Heath High School, Heath Middle School, Stevenson Elementary and Garfield Elementary School. Heath is also near six private schools, Blessed Sacrament, Licking County Christian Academy, Newark Catholic, Newark Seventh Day Adventist, Saint Francis De Sales and Welsh Hills.
